NY MORRISTOWN — Morristown Town Board votes to withdraw Harbor Inn referendum from November 2026 ballot after procedural violation surfaces. The board initially approved the referendum question 3-2, with Supervisor Frank Putman, Deputy Supervisor Chris Coffin, and Councilor Kathy Hunter voting in favor, and Councilors Shawn Macaulay and David VanArnam opposed. Community members expressed concerns about environmental studies, unclear costs, and tax impacts.
After noting that Supervisor Putman's telephone participation violated New York's Open Meetings Law, Councilor Hunter moved to rescind the approval. The motion passed unanimously, 4-0, blocking the Harbor Inn property purchase question from the November ballot.
